How do I resume a test after a failure or accidentally closing GDSLAB?

When there is something like a power failure, which stops the test, all the devices go into a lock mode. This has the same effect as closing all the valves to the cell. The pressures will remain contained, but as the sample slowly creeps under pressure the overall pressure will go down until the whole system reaches an equilibrium.

To resume a test you need to:

  1. Run GDSLAB and go to object display to make sure all devices are operating correctly (you should see no error messages after clicking on the “Read” button in the toolbar),

  2. Start a new test and when selecting the data file choose the file you were using for the test that stopped. You will be asked if you want to overwrite it, click on NO and GDSLAB will start adding more data to that file in the rows below the last recorded row of data in your previous test. This way you will have continuity and the whole test will be saved in the same file.

  3. Once you progress through the test creation make sure you click on NO when you are asked if this is the first test on a new sample. Doing that will prevent GDSLAB from doing any automatic reset.

  4. The first stage in your new test should be a test targeting constant pressures using as targets the same pressures you had applied before the test was interrupted.
