This guide can also be used to re-install GDSLAB on the same PC after a fresh re-install of the operating system.

If you have a dynamic testing system (e.g. DYNTTS, ELDYN, EMDCSS, HFL, etc) please contact our support team as further steps will be needed depending on your system.

For GDSLAB 2.5.0 and later

  1. Create a folder on the desktop named “DO NOT DELETE – Existing GDSLab files”.

  2. Open C:\GDSLAB and copy all files into the folder created in Step 1.

  3. Download and Install the newest version GDSLab into the new operating system, without any GDS USB devices connected to the computer, including the HASP security key.

  4. Copy .ini and files and the ‘Calibration Files’ folder from the old GDSLAB installation folder to the new one. Say yes when asked if you want to overwrite the ‘Calibration Files’ folder. Make sure the new Operating System is using the same decimal separator convention as the old one.

  5. Connect all GDS devices to the PC. Windows will automatically finish the driver installation.

  6. Run GDSLAB, load the test stations and, using Object Display, set up the communication ports for any RS232 devices. You can find a helpsheet on how to find out the COM port numbers on your PC here. The COM Port settings for most of GDS devices can be found here.

For GDSLAB versions earlier than 2.5.0

  1. Create a folder on the desktop named “DO NOT DELETE – Existing GDSLab files”.

  2. Open C:\GDSLAB and copy all files into the folder created in Step 1.

  3. Open C:\Windows\system32 and copy all files beginning with “GDS_” into the folder
    created in Step 1. Note these files may be placed in a sub-folder named “system 32”.

  4. If you are installing the new operating system over the old one, it is recommended that you fully uninstall GDSLAB before the update. To do this, after all the existing files have been backed up in Steps 2 and 3, uninstall GDSLab from the PC. This can be completed by opening “Add or Remove Programs” in the Windows Control Panel and removing the application named “GDSLab”. All GDSLab test modules
    and HASP software should then be removed individually in the same way– these are identified as programs beginning with “GDS_”.

  5. Download and Install the newest version GDSLab into the new operating system, without any GDS USB devices connected to the computer, including the HASP security key.
